Aimed to ensure a more efficient process, every abstract sent before the 5th of February will receive a response in 7 working days from the submission date. Once your abstract is accepted, you will receive the details about the presentation material for the session. Full papers will be asked after the UTC.

OPEN CALL
Urban Thinkers Campus – UTC, with the main topic “City we Need: open for art” will take a place 18-20 of February in Alghero (Sardinia, Italy). Accordingly, we encourage authors to participate and relate their papers to the main goal of the UTC: the new role of art, particularly public art, in the future of the “City we Need” in next decades. Mutual, comprehensive document with argumentation and recommendations for the “Habitat III New Urban Agenda” will be created as its final result.
We are looking for papers with the fresh ideas, examples, realizations and strategies, interpretations or existing practices. Every paper should refer to the main questions we raise within UTC “City we need: open for art” (see also paragraphs about sessions and sub-topics below).
We invite you to submit your abstracts of no more than 300 words (including author(s)’ name and contact information) for initial consideration to the address: call@openforart.eu. Abstracts will be reviewed by a qualified panel of referees (see the site section organization/scientific and artistic committee). Selected abstract will be asked to submit the material follows oral presentation (about 15 minutes) during the conference, and full papers between 3,000 and 6,000 words will be asked after the UTC.
Correspondingly, it is recommended (but not required) that authors position their paper’s contents in the following areas:
SCIENCE: Advancing New Theoretical Insights and Opportunities for Growing the Impacts of (Public) Art in Public Realm;
POLICY: Removing Barriers and Inserting Reforms to Promote a Stronger Impacts of (Public) Art in Public Life;
PRACTICE: Advancing New Tools and Models for Public Art and Placemaking;
CIVIL SOCIETY: Organizing Groups and Strategies to Achieve the Needed Changes.

PUBLICATIONS
Abstracts will be reviewed by a qualified panel of referees. The accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings (book with an ISBN).
Selected papers will be invited to participate in a second round of peer review for a special issue of an international journal.
